JUNE NEWS
Pro Dutch Corvette Crash at Santa Pod
I am very sorry to tell that we crashed at the first race at Santa Pod, after more then 10 years with no scratch to our race cars, we finally had a very bad one. For the last time our trusty racecar went over the finish line. only this time she was on her roof.
go to youtube.com and search robert joosten and you will find several movies about the crash. It still breaks my heart to see it.
We are working hard to get everything lined up to build a other car and come back... if it is broken, that is the reason to make it better !
more news soon.

MAY NEWS
Pro Dutch starts up for 2009
Yeah, we are back. and Racing is on.
after a long winter we put the Corvette in the trailer for some testing at the Pod.
We got 2 days of rain, wich gives our time to clean the trailer, clean it again and and again. Finally Sunday we went to the staging lanes. After the first hit we blew the tires, as the track was only 55 F wich is to cold. But we liked to give it a other try. we changed a lot of things wich the car really liked ! it went off into the dark with a 6,20 at 230 mph
nice !
the next day we went up in smoke, and could only blame ourselfs as we made a mistake, wich we put with the other mistakes that we will not make again.
just so much that can go wrong but heck... if she goes..she really GOES
see you at the Main Event Santa Pod.

SEPT NEWS
After a hart breaking dnq at Hockenheim, where we lost the
lead in the European championship, Pro Dutch hit back
at the european Finals at Santa Pod raceway.
After 2 days of raining it al came down at 1 qualifing
chance. The Pro dutch corvette was back in winning mode
and after qualifing at the nr 4 spot ( out of 27 cars )
it was racing as it should be.
We were good underway to the final round, when the rain
hit us again. and stopped racing for this year.
We still ended up at the number 2 spot in the european
championship. The first Dutch to do so in promod
and with good chances to take it all.
We are very proud to do so, and ofcourse
are looking for this number 1 spot next year !
we will be back.... harder then ever.

report from dennis: FINLAND ROCKS!!!
Yes, Finland was great! I’ve never been to Finland and I didn’t really know what to expect, but after this weekend I can say that Finland holds some great memories. After the normal long flight with multiple plane changes and security checks I arrived in Turku, Finland; a nice small airport that you can’t get lost in. I called to see where the other guys were; Robert and Anton were at the track with the truck and Leon, Jan and Martijn were in Helsinki so it would be a couple of hours before they would be able to pick me up. I walked around outside for a little and the air was sweet and fresh with the temperature nice and cool. It felt like good racing weather. Got to the track and we got everything set up. One thing that surprised me was the fact that it only gets dark for an hour or so at night. That really helped me with the jet lag because we just kept working and next thing you know it’s 2 o’clock in the morning. So, off to bed and then back up at 7 to get ready for some racing. Finished up all the numerous odds and ends and then went out for our first pass. Since our outing at Santa Pod didn’t work out like we wanted, we took a step back and stuck our old baseline setup in the car to see what would happen. Ok, first pass gets us a 6. 530 and that’s just about what we expected. Things are looking promising. Now we’re going to make some changes. Second run and we run a 6.406 which is ok, but we need more. So we work until about 3 am (it’s still daylight) and get some changes set up in the car, get a few of hours of sleep and then back up for more racing. The day starts off with some good news as we hear that they’re going to try and get in three qualifying passes for the Pro classes today. That’s what we want, a chance to make some laps and get a good setup for our new combination. Our first pass of the day is a 6.397 in the right lane, the next pass in the left lane gets us a 6.342 so we’re still inching forward. We’re moving the right direction, but it’s just not responding like we’re expecting. Back in the truck we sit down for a long discussion to figure out what we’re going to do tomorrow morning ( raceday ). Ok, back to the car and work again until 3 am. We know the left lane is a little better than the right and we set up the car for the right lane (even though we won’t have lane choice). Ok, eliminations time! We roll up against Micke (last years Pro Mod Champion) and he selects the left lane, that’s great for us because with our setup we pop off a 6.174 and set a new track record ! That’s great, even better than we had expected. It’s back to the pits to get ready for round two against our fellow countryman Marc Meihuizen. The second round brings us a winning 6.292, but we were a little out of the groove causing some issues with the run and it will cost us lane choice against Lindahl brothers in the semi’s. Well, the semi’s are going to be tough. Lindahl has been making good runs all weekend and we’re going to have to run the right lane which hasn’t been able to support much more than a high 6.2’s this weekend. We set up for a low 6.2 and then hit bad tire shake that put us out of the running. Overall we had a great weekend and learned a lot about how to get all our new Oddy engine power down the track. I would say that this has been the one best weekend we’ve had with the car and it has given us a lot of confidence that we’re doing what needs to be done to be competitive. We’ll move on to Sweden and work on improving on what we did in Finland. Expect even better news on the next report!

MAY NEWS
Yo, this
was hell week !
Wendsday 14 May we got the engine here, put it in the car and
finished up saterday. All due plan. till... Leon ( eagle eye we
call him )
found
a leak at the rear axle housing. ( wich we inspected over the
winter )
we
took it apart to find that both spindles ( that goes into the
housing ) were cracked ! panic... were and how to fix
this. A call to andy robinsson, and he said you need to be here
monday morning first thing and i will fix it. So get out the
complete rear housing cleaned it and put it in the trunk to rush
to Andy ( UK ). He started at 08"00 till 22"00 put it back in
the trunk drove home
(
tuesday 06"00 ) sleep few hours, put back in the race car,
finished up some things, threw everything left into the trailer
and went off to the pod
( cause we still wanted to test at thursday ) Only to find out
that there was
a
strike going on at the france harbour ! $#@!! it took me 24
hours to get to the pod. to late for testing.
o.k
friday recapp, we started the engine ( wich sounded REALLY
strong ) everything looks ok.
Billy
flying in at saterday, but then the trouble started again, his
bag was not in the plane ! full with parts we needed. On the
track we put the new setup in the engine and went out.
blew
the tires off at the hit. pedal it, get it back and drove a 7,1
with a little pop at the end. back in the pits the burst panel
was out. the plugs looks ok. nothing burnt and shows way rich..
founded the problem ( we tought ) a stucked injector. some
piece of shit was in cil 1 injector. so changed the clutch took
out power and went out again.
blew
the tires at the hit, pedal and went to the back, were i had a
funny car explosion just before the finish line ( nobody saw it
! only lex joon who was looking at the top end ) BIG fire that
went out right away, what happend
was
that the manifold just cracked due the backfire the engine gave,
it melted the co2 lines to the lean out system
that
sprayed co2 right away and put out the fire. pff.. lucky me..
Back
in the pits billy good not belief what he saw. they all tought
nothing happend.
next.
what happend. well we screwed up big time. stuppid.stuppid
after
looking better into the data it shows we were making some
mistakes
we
ware lucky we did not burnt the engine down to the ground.
For
now it looks like only the manifold is gone, this engine is much
stronger, no valves damaged, no valve springs !
all
bearing looked like new. the blower is ok.
just some TLC
back
to start. and all over again.
we
will fix this.

DECEMBER NEWS

We went to the PRI show, and had a great weekend.
Full report from Dennis:
Pro Dutch at Performance Racing Industry
It was a cold morning and the weather was forecasting freezing rain for the next three to five days, BUT we were on our way to the airport and sunny Orlando, Florida. We were going to attend the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show for the first time and being in a nice warm place was going to make it even better. Unfortunately to get to Florida there were other airports to pass through and the freezing rain caused a delay of just over two
hours...............(more)
